I see this a lot while working and talking with our customers and since we believe that our goal at PeppyWear.com isn’t to sell pretty clothes, but rather to empower and accentuate the beautiful women wearing them I want to occasionally talk about building and re-enforcing self confidence here on the blog.

Since I’m not an expert on the subject by any means, just a woman who deals with her own insecurities now and then, I’ve reached out to others who are experts for tips and advice that we could share.

Hopefully this will become an ongoing series, and more importantly, I hope it can be informative and helpful to some of us.

For today, an exercise was suggested that seems like a great place to start.

The first step in feeling confident is truly knowing and understanding who we are, and a good way to do this is to make a few lists for ourselves.

To be honest, I thought this sounded a little cliche when I first heard it myself, but I gave it a try and was actually surprised with some of the things that ended up on my lists, as well as some of the things that didn’t, so I encourage you to spend a few minutes and give this a go. The key is in being completely honest with yourself as you compile these five lists.

1. What are your values? What ideas and traditions do you feel an emotional connection with? Ignore those which you may think are important, but that you don’t honestly feel emotionally connected to.
2. What do you believe in? From spiritual to political. If it’s important to you list it and think about why you feel it’s important.
3. Do you have a life philosophy? Start by defining what a life philosophy is for yourself (it can be different for different people), then list what yours is.
4. What are your strengths? From the superficial to the sublime, if you “have it” or are “good at it” list it.
5. What are your weaknesses? What don’t you have and what aren’t you good at?

After you’ve made your lists walk away from them for a few hours, then later go back and read through them carefully. Examine what you placed on each list. Are there items that surprise you on any of them? If so, ask yourself why they surprise you.

Are there items missing that on second thought you felt would or should have been listed? Again, ask yourself why you thought they should be there, and why you feel you neglected to write them down. Was it an oversight or are these things just not as important as you’ve always thought they were?

There are no right or wrong answers here, and there’s no score or grade to achieve. It’s all about reflecting on, and getting better acquainted with, yourself.

Truly knowing who you are is a giant step towards feeling comfortable with yourself, and that is the foundation for feeling self confident.

One major addition we’ve made, and I’m really excited about this, is that we’ve added a User Ratings and Reviews widget to our product detail pages where visitors and customers can give their actual and unsolicited opinions on the items in our catalog.

It’s one thing to show our visitors the product promotional images and try to give full descriptions on items, or to write about some of the items we offer that I like best here on this blog… but by providing you with an open venue to share your honest thoughts and opinions on specific products will hopefully add a whole new level of value for you.

We have just installed this new feature and aren’t adding any reviews ourselves so that the ratings and review comments are strictly between actual site visitors and customers, so the majority of our catalog right now will have no ratings or reviews posted yet.

It seems like I can never find anything that doesn’t scratch, itch, bother or wake me at some point. I’m a very light sleeper and literally feel like I’m being confined or choked by my clothing at night.

The worst part is I’m unable to sleep without something on. It’s just the way I am.

Well, here’s one item I’ve found that actually doesn’t irritate me at night so I thought some of you might want to know about it too.

It’s a charmeuse and lace baby doll set, and what I like most is the fabric doesn’t cause me any itching or make me feel like I’m being scratched through the night, it doesn’t touch my neck area at all so I don’t feel like I’m being choked and with the open front over my stomach I don’t get that confined feeling that often wakes me either.

I’ve got the blue one, but I’m planning to also get it in buttercup yellow soon (my clothing budget is in the red right now LOL) too.

My only word of caution would be that while I sleep great in this, that’s only when I’m sleeping alone… :)~

And just so you know, I obviously use this blog to talk about PeppyWear because that’s my job, but I’m not using it to just promote sales. If I was then I’d be talking about higher ticket items instead. We have baby dolls and other sleepwear that cost 3 times what this one does in our collection and they’re popular too so I could easily post about those.

But, while I talk about PeppyWear here I also talk about me, so whenever I mention an item it’s going to be because I like it, own it, use it or something like that. Just like with this posting, this is a set I have and love; and so talking about it and why I love it is a way to talk with you about PeppyWear in a personal and candid manner.
